Should I cycle during pregnancy?
Просмотров 27 тыс.13 лет назад
Every year, over 16.000 cyclists are killed or injured in road accidents. And, according to the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents, men are more likely to die than women. They say women tend to cycle more carefully and some continue cycling when pregnant. But, is it really safe to keep cycling, even when you're expecting a baby? Our reporter Aarti Jitender went out to find the answer.
Why should I register my bike?

PC Ian MacPherson, from the Metropolitan Police, explains why cyclists should register their bikes. If cyclists mark their bikes, the odds of recovering them after being stolen increase significantly.
How to properly lock your bike
Просмотров 334 тыс.13 лет назад
PC Ian MacPherson, from the Metropolitan Police, gives you some useful tips so that you can properly lock your bike while on the streets of London. @Cycling London Online 2010
The age before the cordless angle grinder. Hiplok D1000 & Litlok are the only locks good enough for London
Unfortunately this add is out if date now with the invention & popularity of the cordless angle grinder.
instructions unclear iron got stuck in the washing machine
Well done; much appreciated/AES///
But a lot of men with big stomach cycles too. I don't see, if fit and cautious, why pregnant women shouldn't cycle.
What are you talking about 😂😂😂
Angle grinder will do both themlocks in 2 minutes
i cant afford expensive locks, so i buy mine from poundland for £1 each. that is fantastic value and saves me a lot of money and i wouldnt buy any other. its just a shame i have to spend a fortune on new bikes every couple of weeks.
Underrated 😂😂
50 Thieves are unhappy about this video 😂
Who's gonna carry 5 kgs plus lock on their bike or back pack? Just buy Brompton which go everywhere with you or walk
Thanks
THANK YOU SIR
I'm 46 with my second child and high risk i am just going on to 3 months and i still cycle two hours everyday.
very helpful, thank you
The police does not want to stop bike thieves, there are lots of things they should do.
I powder coat my bike a custom colours to make it unique
Total rubbish, who going to carry around all those locks! Best way not to have your bike stolen is not to buy one in the first place!
I now have two different types of d locks , if I will be leaving bike at a place for some time will double lock it
Yes, Sir, talk after you will be pregnant yourself :)))
Is it any less safe than riding your car?... For many a bicycle is simply that, a mode of transportation. I cant get to work on time if I walk.
Though it's important where to place various locks and types for the uptmost protection against some passing stranger locks will not slow down a well seasoned thief. I don't care what lock or type of lock you have, be it a simple inexspensive to the most costly need to borrow against your home to obtain one. It's the locking mechinism I concern my self with. Just like the movie, I can have you bike and be gone in 30 seconds, regardless, becasue the mechinisms are all exactly the same. I mean Jesus Christ, a clown in any article of clothing is still a fucking clown.
The lock looks heavier than my bike
Doesn't matter how you lock your bike, or how many different locks you put on it. All a thief needs is an angle-grinder and it's as good as gone. There are even portable angle-grinders that are so cheap and easy to use which are also battery powered so thieves don't even need to worry about having a power source to hook it up to. With that, it takes less than a minute to cut off even the most secure bike locks available on the market now. My advice: Bring your bike in with you if you can to wherever you're going. If you're going to class. set the bike somewhere you can keep your eyes on it while having lecture. If you work in an office, simply bring the bike in with you, and lock the office if you plan to leave. Whatever you do, the key is to just be close by.
SAY NO FOR FLEXIBLE CABLES AND CHAINS
Datatag the bike. Has this person tried to carry two heavy locks in a rucksack?
I have and do. Sometimes I fill the bag with shopping too. But yes, datatag your bike.
I have a kryptonite series 4 u lock and thick cable. The lock and cable did not stop scumbags loosening my front derailer and twisting it and tightening it so my drive chain was trapped which resulted in the peddles and back wheel unable to move and spin. Evil fucking scumbags who think they have every right to damage my bike because they could not steal it. All bike thieves and those that damage locked up bikes need hunting down and their hands chopped off....thats how bike theft and damage is dealt with. Police are useless law is too soft.
Great locks and great advice. Only trouble is the 2 locks total about 11 lbs.
I would carry like ten lock with me ...
Contact the police if a registered bike is stolen????? Police are not bothered thats why bikes get stolen....thieves are never caught or arrested.
HAS ANYONE ELSE SEEN THAT HES STANDING INFRONT OF ISIS HOUSE
i despise bike thieves, fucking germs the lot of them. The answer is we need more police patroling our cities, cutbacks are making crime too easy and we need to cutback on the fatcat's bonuses rather than our emergency services!
Damn, that's a bad ass helmet
Better to go through the back wheel's rim as well as the seat tube with that U-lock. I generally just remove the front wheel and add it to that equation at the back.
Some bastards will still try to steal the saddle...
Bring it with you or put a strap from the frame to the yop
I have a quick release saddle on my bike which has a frame that allows it to be slid back and forth for a better fit, so I just put a padlock around that and attach it to the cable lock that goes through the frame. Not lost the saddle yet, or the bike itself.
No nonsense and to the point!
Good value video
Think the best way is to carry out a surveillance operations at bike racks now and again while carrying out pickpocket, shoplifting, car break in and burglary operations in the same area!
I remember the days when police were very interested to know what you had in your bag especially after dark!
I had never thought it would be necessary to lock both wheel. But this is London :D
Wouldn't it be easier to build large bike parking spaces and leave a police officer there? You know, cops aren't there to resolve crimes. They are there to PREVENT crimes. Unfortunately, in this country, cops only show up too late and your shit is already gone.
Victor England good idea actually!!
So far the best advise of proper way to lock a bike!! thank you! That Isis house though!! :D
great advice but how are you meant to carry these heavy lumps of metal around with you all the time?
+Bjork Vlogdok Well there has been a thing invented a long time go and is being used a lot, known as a bag /backpack.
Well, if you want to carry something so heavy on your back be my guest but that's too much lock.
Bjork Vlogdok It's not that heavy, a motorbike lock is bigger and more heavier.
+BjorkVee There are models of U lock that comes with a support to be attached to the frame so you won't have to carry it on your backpack.
+Lispy Joe, well, if you want your bike stolen be my guest.
His tyres look a biy worn out to me. He should give himself a ticket:-)
Isis House...
I did all this still stole my bike😕
Chain + D lock ?
Hahah Isis house, 67-69. Wtf
Kris Kieronski Haha
does anyone else see isis house
yousuf kan yes
Wow wtf?
Very informative. Thank you!
Some very good points here.
Thank you!!! Love London and their people. Nice video. =)
And how am I supposed to transport the heavy locks?
WasGibtEs Leute back pack, in the basket of your bike if you have one. keep it around the bike. Common sense. People cary groceries on a bike, but a 5 l lock is to heavy.
Shane Botwin I am not one of these people and I don't want to scratch my bike.
Then don't complain.
WasGibtEs Leute Get a Knog Bouncer D-lock and a Knog Kabana cable lock if you don't want to worry about scratching your bike.
+WasGibtEs Leute with a bigger bike :D
